Just for oV

Loan approved...awaiting underwriter acceptance of appraisal.

They are leaving the flat panel TV....hee hee hee.

Closing on June 16th! Moving shortly after (we will probably take sleeping bags up and camp that night up there...just because).

Puppies are about a week old and 30 pounds already...nah, but it won't be long.

Coach says no racing this weekend so I'll probably only do two races at the ICCC and two at Santa Rosa (don't tell),

It is beautiful
and sunny
and NOT windy
and I am getting on my bike...
the Calfee...
and going for a ride,
a little climbing,
a lot of miles,
lots of intervals...

cause Thursday and Friday I'll be resting and doing sprint drills.

More to come.

Love ya oV! Nice racin' this weekend.

Winning = smile

I say briefly: Best! Useful information. Good job guys.

There is NO escape!

Fate?

I have always wanted a Harlequin Great Dane.

But, since we live in a condo with no yard I didn't think it was fair (or practical) to have such a big dog).

And, we have this thing about buying dogs. All of our pets have always been rescues.

A friend recently rescued a Great Dane whose owner died.

It was a female Harlequin and she was pregnant.

Two days ago she gave birth to 14 puppies.

Let's recap, we are about to close on a new house.

The house has a big back yard (even a dog enclosure with a doggie door into the house),

We have a friend with 14 Harlequin Great Dane puppies that need homes.

Is it fate?

Cyclorama

The Delivery Man and I went for a little ride today. Two and a half hours, averaging less than 17mpg, and less than 900kcal. Now what's my excuse for the bowl of ice cream I just ate?

Anyway, is that a recovery ride or what!

Then we went down to San Jose Tech Museum to see Wired to Win not featuring our favorite doper who broke his collar bone and still rode le Tour but screwed it all up by not playing it straight.

Dopers Suck.

Then we went to see Brent and then Gebhard.

Just a cycling extravaganza of a day.

Then I spent hours reading the disclosures for the house we are trying to buy. Ugh! What those poor people went through. Glad they did all the work already.

Damn Diet Gremlins

So, I'm sitting here
in my hotel
in the ATL
having finished my grilled
chicken breast
and salad
and vegetable dinner...

...and I get this
craving
for chocolate,
sugar,
candy,
Ice Cream

I walk down the hall, a vending machine

ooooooooh
M&Ms
York Peppermint Patties
Snickers
decisions, decisions

M&Ms it is!

Take my dollar, no
Take my dollar, no
Take my dollar, no
Take my dollar, no
Take my dollar, OK

Give me M&Ms, no
Give me M&Ms, no
Give me York, no
Give me Snickers, no
Give me M&Ms, no

Damn it!

Maybe I have something sweet out in my car?
Maybe even just a PowerBar
Vanilla Crisp
Chocolate
Cookies and Cream
Anything (yeah lame, I know)

I stop by the front desk,
"you should have someone
look at that machine,
it ate my dollar"

And there they sit...a basket of apples.

OK, I got it, an apple it is....Damn it, I still want chocolate!

Cyclysm Sunday?

My DVR didn't record it yesterday?

It recorded it today...is it Sunday?

I'm confused...

Did I miss a day?

Or worse, a race?

Stock-the podium-ton

Pacific State Bank Grand Prix
35+1/2/3

Get off at El Dorado and turn left,
then left again,
look for Lincoln...

What the hell does that say?

Well the weather outside is frightful,
but my car is so delightful,
I really don't want the pain,
Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain.

But it's Roger and Pat and me,
And we already paid the fee,
The money it ain't so bad,
And plenty of it to be had.

Enough singing
...the sky started to clear,
we got suited up,
went to the line,
it started raining,
we raced,
course was OK...not too slippery,
EMC had lots of guys,
they worked the field well..always a guy off,
I worked hard chasing,
A group got off with the DM and Pat,
finally I can relax,
But wait, it is me and 2 EMC and 1 other
They are doing nothing...I mean nothing...we're gonna get lapped at this pace,

Gap is getting big...ATTACK
Joe on my wheel,
Won't pull through "come on, what will it hurt if we both make it?"
He can't do it...he is going to die just sitting my wheel,
ATTACK him, he hangs on,
Fine then, let's get joined,

Round and round,
Shit, Roger went down,
He looks OK,
Free lap...back in,
Patrick still looking good,
We lapped the field,
more shenanigans by EMC....I'll give'em even odds in a break,
but not a 2 vs 1 and that is what they wanted,
Then, somehow I get a gap on the back side, no chase,

5 to go...solo
4 to go...solo
3 to go...solo
2 to go...solo
1 to go...solo
finishing sprint...or roll in my case,
Fonseca jumping out of line, Delivery Man goes, Pat goes,
Can he hold it...

The Delivery Man takes the win,
Lothar holds on for the second step,
Fonseca holds off PT for third.

So close to a MIB sweep!

Elite 3:
Why does this keep happening to me?

Just gonna sit in and try to wind it up at the end.

20 minutes in...30 minutes to go,

I am off the front with a Stanford guy who is strong.

Did fine for the first 15 minutes but got tired. Davis junior bridged but not much help at first. Stanford still strong. Davis not doing much. Stanford rolled off the front. Davis still sitting my wheel. Then, attacked me. I gave him the "you have got to be kidding me" and he actually slowed to let me get on his wheel. Thanks! I feel bad now though...I should have yelled, "go get him...good luck!" We never caught Stanford. He won. Davis and I got caught on the last lap! Spine did a fine job chasing.

Not a bad course. Roads weren't bad. Those willing to push it just a little were able to separate from the group while the others played it too cautiously.

Where have all the bag boys gone, to Kern County?
Where have all the bag boys gone, long way to go?
Where have all the bag boys gone?
Young girls have picked them everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they come back from Kern?

Damn Kern County...I miss you guys!

There's no ME in Modesto...wait yes there is...

I mean there's no U in Modesto...

But, there is U in LUV,
wait there's no U in Schmoopie (schmupie...then there is u and me)?

...hope everyone is doing well down there.

Sure makes you appreciate the advantages of team when you don't have one!

Roger could have used some more help chasing Fuentes.

Meow Mix

We found a place to get a post race recovery drink!

Had to get a picture of our pimped out rides!

Yummy snacks provided by some enterprising young tom cats.

The Break

You guys look thirsty..need a drink? BJM?

Get your snack on!

What does it mean to be a passenger on an airplane these days?

Being in the business
I really don't expect too much...
and hence I am rarely disappointed.

I don't expect to get a snack,

a drink maybe,

but why should the airline feed me.

I am paying for them to transport me from one place to another.

If I wanted food I would go to a restaurant (actually, I would just bring my own).

So, I am always appreciative when I receive one of those cute little snack packs...it's better than nothing, right?

But this...this is rediculous! What's with the itty bitty knife to spread the cheese on these itty bitty Butter and Herb "Crostini"?

I really shouldn't be eating this processed Havarti Cheese type product anyway.

After this picture, the whole thing went into the trash...except the raisins. √6

Don't Judge a Book...

...by its cover

or a cyclist by his....

Anyone know who this is? Or what stripes these are?

Lothar of the Hill People II

Berkeley Hills Geezer Style:
This is a 35 mile race if you are a dumbass like me. See previous post about dropping chain. Reason said chain dropped was not shifting stupidity but broken link. On the promenade I knew something was wrong. Actually asked a teammate to take a look because I thought I might have lost a pulley bolt or something. Nope, broken link = bad shifting = another half race = another mechanical.

I'll get it together sooner or later.

I won't pretend to know what happened. I set the pace...silly me...up Papa the first time. I felt good. And soon that would end. Attacks, reeled in, another attack, reeled in, fast, slow, faster when the incline increased (and I don't mean in an inverse downhill kinda way), both my legs flatted and a jumpy chain. I was out...no further excuses required.

Team played it well. Covered breaks, pushed the pace when necessary, conserved the right people, attacked at the right time. Taz walked away with it and Pascuzzi hung for some BAT points. Nicely done!

Lothar of the Hill People?

Cats Hill Criterium (x2...or x1.5).
I was one with the hill people this weekend and it was good.

Elite 3:
100 crazy SOBs on the line at the start...not so many at the finish.

I count 21!

Too bad there wasn't a KOH...
cause I might'a nabbed it.

The only thing I learned when I raced this 3 years ago was be at the front when you hit the bottom of the hill and hit it fast.

Momentum is king!
Especially on number 15 through 20!

Momentum = mass * velocity

Momentum can be defined as "mass in motion." All objects have mass (some objects have more mass than they should); so if an object is moving, then it has momentum - it has its mass in motion. The amount of momentum which an object has is dependent upon two variables: how much stuff is moving and how fast the stuff is moving. Momentum depends upon the variables mass and velocity. In terms of an equation, the momentum of an object is equal to the mass of the object times the velocity of the object.

If only I had learned to be at the front when you hit the final corner. Great gameplan, poor execution. Mr. Smart was in there with me and we had it in the bag. He flatted the last time up the hill, damn the bad luck. Got blocked in and turned the final corner in about 11th...finished 7th. Ugh...so close too!

Geezers:
Ruthless I tell you, those bag boys are brutal! Attack after attack. So much strength. Glad they are on my team. Wish I hadn't dropped my chain halfway through. No chance of catching back on...not on this day. Taz set up a great attack, Pascuzzi, DeanO, then oV...I've heard of the one two punch but the one two three four (with Andy, M2, and the Delivery Man sitting in) YIKES!

Angermanagement from the Spine "Doctors" nipped oV at the line after an awesome attack over the top. The Delivery Man covered and grabbed 5th!

Pro/1/2:
Check out DeanO...he earned a rootbeer today!
